I sent money order for some applications and personal checks for some.
Money Order can be tracked thru' ur bank - call them and ask how. I did and they gave a 1-800 number to call and track - it is an automated system. My money order was thru' Chase Bank

Most affected are Chinese and Indian members...I don't know much about Chinese but I know from experience that it is hard to get money out of Desis...
They have a multiplication factor inbuilt in their minds 1$X44 = 44 Rupees!!!

If one has applied for AOS and received EAD/AP in the maiden name, should one wait or just get the name changed before I-485 is approved?
Once the name has been changed on the passport and SSN, what should be done to get the name changed on the AOS application and EAD/AP?

If you decide to change the last name and if you plan right all of it can be done within 1 week (speaking from experience. changed spouse's last name after 2 years of marriage and it was damn easy).
First plan where changing it is priority..something like:
> Financial (Banks, credit cards, brokers etc.)
> US Govt Agencies
Immigration (Since you have applied for AoS, might wait)
SSN
IRS (will be changed with a new return)
Local towns (only if necessary)
DMV - License
> Passport
> Workplace
then let the spouse make a notarized affidavit that says that she is making the declaration that I am the same as "old name" and "new name" and that I am making this declaration to change the name in official records, agencies etc.
Put new and old signatures and notarize it. Take the affidavit, marriage certificate (assuming that marriage is the reason for change) and then it is a simple cakewalk whereever you go.
SSN as others mentioned would be the first step, second comes passport, with both of these in new name, DL is easy.
The more you wait wider would be the penetration of the old name. That said if ones spouse wants it changed and doesn't do it now, guess will never do it. Sometimes it is only a mental block that it would be tough...thousands get married, thousands change their name. It is a well known issue ;)

Really, they even had some local band play along with the fireworks... and you know, what, dude, that was the very first, no kidding.., thatwas the very first music-synchronized fireworks... you know, like the 4th of July stuff, but just, more cooler and stuff, you know. Getting the driver's license is not the problem, I know it will come. Problem here is why I cannot drive outside SC for up to 60 days waiting for the DL card? Remember I've to surrender my old SC license. This is serious limitation to my work, e.g. I need to go to Atlanta on 08/19 and I cannot drive there.

On Checking the SC dmv site and it is interesting to note that non-citizens are not allowed to renew their license online. I guess this is the result of illegal immigration reform thing which is now a part of so many states along with SC. And I think they are running background checks against the legal status of any non-citizen folks. My take would be that you should consider meeting the senator and explaining the issue. They can basically expedite the process so that you wont have to wait for a long time.

As many of us get ready to use AC21 to switch from current employers, i wanted to get your feed back on a very common contartual obligation.
My contract with my desi consultant basically says
"Agreement Not to Compete. While I am employed by Employer, and for ONE years/ 12 months afterward, I will not directly or indirectly participate in a business in a similar capacity that is similar to a business now or later operated by Employer in the same geographical area. This includes participating in my own business or as a co-owner, director, officer, consultant, independent contractor, employee or agent of another business.
In particular, I will not:
(i) Solicit or attempt to solicit any business or trade from Employer's actual or prospective customers or clients; or
(ii) Divert or attempt to divert business away from Employer;"
Now my employer had nothing to do with me getting my clients, i do my own marketing and negotiationas, but of course the employer signs on all the papers. Will i still have to change clients when i switch employer?

I looked at your signature timeline and it says "LC denied due to date missing on ad portion." Could you please clarify what happened? My job ads are running right now for PERM LC and not sure what I need to keep from the newspaper ad.
I have taken screenshots of Job Order, Yahoo HotJobs, Professional Organization, University Placement etc. I hope the screenshots showing the ad and all the dates would be good enough.

thanks for your post. Ya its my sister's wedding. I had decided to go until this H1 revocation email came. I has seen some cases on IV a while ago where people got the H1 revocation email and I-485 denied without NOID/RFE. If this happens when I am in India I am screwed.
I realize that 80% nothing will happen, but it is that off chance that something happens to I-485 when I am out of the country which has me worried.
Anyways 2 more weeks of thinking I guess before I board that flight. Hanging by this EAD/AP thread and uncertainities of AC21 etc is really painful.
Your I-485 cannot be denied just because your GC sponsoring employer revoked your H1. In past, USCIS denied or issued NOID when the GC sponsoring employer revoked the approved I-140. Do you know if your employer is going to revoke your I-140 or has already done so.
In anycase, like someone else mentioned, you can file a AC21 letter now and take a copy of the letter along with a copy of the offer letter with you. Just go and enjoy your sister's wedding with family and friends.

You nearly aged out but since your priority date became current before your 21st birthday, you should be eligible to get an immigrant visa. CSPA protects you here. Also they should deduct about four months (period your father's I140 was outstanding) from your current age. This makes you eligible for a visa. See what happens at your next appointment but ask your Dad to talk to an immigration attorney in the US.
