Yes, everybody would like to know more, but what's another month?
I've already decided that unless by some miracle FCP X can really replace my FCP 7 workflow straight out of the box in June (highly unlikely), I'm not buying it until it truly can, even if it's only $300. I'm sure the post houses feel the same way...Its a no brainer for me. Ill buy it so I can at least start at ground floor. It wont take me away from Avid/FCP at work but I will at least have a head-start in case the school I teach at gets it for Fall classes.
Now as far as dropping it into a real world workflow, Id wait a bit.
Ive learned to not get caught up on the hype thanks to companies such as Adobe :P
Ill let the million plus beta-testers deal with it before I move to another CS blah blah blah :P

Does around 400-450 for a ~700mhz G3 with Airport sound about right? I'm not looking at a particular auction, but as a general guide.

That's too much for a G3. You might as well get an iBook G4 or even a refurb model from the Apple Store if you're prepared to pay that much. The US refurb store currently has 12" iBook G4 1.2 Ghz with CD-ROM for $699.

The color inconsistency may have to do with your browser and PS not using colorspaces properly.

He probably has color management turned on, and when he loads the images into the browser the colors are different. The solution would be to turn color management off in Photoshop.

Another issue might be that he is using blending modes for his rollovers that get lost when the image is flattened.

If you have no experience in this type of work, I would suggest using a service like Jotform. Easy, web-based form builder. They host the database. You can embed the from anywhere.

I'm basically jailbreaking for the multitouch gestures, since I'm on a Windows and can't use xcode.

Then be sure to jailbreak with Sn0wBreeze 2.3b4 and not 2.3b1~2 as they give less than the best user experience. iH8sn0w.com for some reason seems to have issues with the correct link to Sn0wBreeze 2.3b4 when you use IE9/8 and often points to just Sn0wBreeze 2.3b2 :(

Thanks for the review. I am really excited about this product and will be getting one when i get an iPod Photo for sure. I have a question that I have not heard anywhere. Does the Camera Connector support USB 2 with cameras that support it, or is it strictly USB 1.1? If it did USB 2 that would be awesome. I will probably buy it either way, but just curious.

I have two laptops a Ti powerbook with an airport card and a sony laptop with a PCI Belkin 802.11b card. The powerbook connects fine with the basestation, but the sony does not even see the airport basestation. I have it set up for dhcp and it is set for 802.11b only. I also have a linksys wireless router at my office which the sony can connect to without any problems, so the computer and card appear to be fine. Can Windows machines use Airport basestations?

Or be a clever bean and take off the Gore options in easy mode. Or just put the option in for anymode. Adult and suck at it? Easy mode, tick Gore box. Child present? untick Gore box.

Rail shooters are just twich/reaction based games. They could totally remove blood and the game would still work. Hell if this game is just Point Blank with a Resident Evil/Zombie theming then it would still work.

 Resident Evil 4 isn't a rail shooter.

RE4 is one of my favorite games. I'm not sure I would buy it again just to use Wiimotes, they would have to add something extra.

    Try resetting the PRAM

    1. Shut down the computer.

    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

    3. Turn on the computer.

    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

    6. Release the keys.

On a side note. You should never install a developer preview as your primary OS.

I have been a PC user for basicly my entire life, but I have never exactly been happy with it. The thing would crash, have the BSoD, but that is not really why i switched.

Basicly I got tired of the Windows Operating System, Bill Gates, and the millions of PC Viruses. I needed a notebook for college in the fall, and I picked up a 17" PowerBook G4 because it suites all of my needs and it replaces the need for a desktop for quite some time. I have enjoyedm first week as a Mac User because everything has worked so well, and I am actually used to all of the windows opened at the same time now! (I never understood before untill I actually spent hours upon hours with the thing)

I have now become addicted to iTunes and have puchased 68 songs in my first week. :D Another reason why I wanted the Mac is because of Final Cut Pro. I love watching and making movies so I felt that the Mac would be the best thing for me... The last movie I made was on my Pentium 4 box and I nearly threw it out of the window because it was so evil... Hopefully the Mac is more kind. I have not started to edit video on my Mac yet, but that is because I have not had the time.

I like my "little" 17" PowerBook because it works great and everyone I have shown it off to has been really amazed by it.

Thanks! Your answer helped. So now I know that <**> are only for system provided classes. I used quotes for Fraction.h and it worked.
The example that I used had everything dumped in the main .m file along with the main function.

I'm glad you got it working, but please be specific in the future about what you did, and what the book told you to do. Accuracy is important in programming. Books are specific about what to do because the author knows what works and what doesn't, and has given accurate instructions on what to do that works.

If you're working from a book, and they show you what to put into a file, you should put exactly that into a file. So if your book showed you to put everything dumped into the main.m file, then that's what you should do.

However, if they showed you something else, then dumping everything into a single main.m file is asking for trouble, because you don't know all the consequences of what you're doing.

If the book showed "Fraction.h", then that's what you should use. If they showed <Fraction.h> and it didn't work, then that's an error in the book.

Do not make changes to what a book tells you unless you fully understand what the consequences are. And if you're a beginner, then almost by definition, a beginner does not fully understand all the consequences. If you did understand all the consequences, you wouldn't be a beginner.

thats something i would be really glad to see. it's really annoying to subscribe to a thread just to see if someone answered a question

Get tapatalk if you have an iPhone or iPod touch. It's much easier to deal with the subscriptions this way. I would never take the time out to check them on a computer.

If you do decide to swap out the logicboard from a newer/faster iMac, keep in mind there are two 500mhz boards out there...the DV SE which has the older 8mb Rage chip and the later models which have the 16mb chip. I'd look for a 600 or 700mhz board to be safe.

    many thanks;)

In OS X you can literally control just about any aspect of the the operating system via terminal. I would argue that an expert *nix user has more "unrestricted control" over OS X than an expert windows user can have under XP.

I think an important thing to consider is how easy to use this control over the system is, a unix terminal is not very easy to use. Windows will offer GUI tools for such tasks like regedit. Though the thing is there is really very little a typical power user will need to change in OSX that can't be done from the GUI. The only thing I've needed to change from the terminal is the smb.conf file to put in the correct workgroup.
