I am trying verify if data recovery is possible on a customers Macbook Air a1304 hard drive. Since Apple decided to use that 1.8" drive I am trying to find an adapter that will work in a desktop SATA or IDE that isn't some ridiculous price. The Air had water spilled on it so it will not turn on nor do I have another air to test it in.
From what I can find the Air uses a 1.8" ZIF drive. Would this ZIF CE 1.8 Microdrive to 3.5 40pin adapte (http://www.amazon.com/ZIF-1-8-Micro-Drive-Adapter/dp/B004AXDA82)r work. Perhaps this Toshiba 1.8 ZIF to 2.5 IDE (http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-1-8-Zif-2-5-Connector/dp/B0018S9RQG) (I have an external enclosure that works with the 2.5 IDE). I also found this external USB enclosure (http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Enclosure-1-8-inch-Toshiba-Connector/dp/B0037FR27E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1302904126&sr=8-2). So how did everybody make out yesterday?
Any tips on finding an iPad 2 in Ottawa at this point? Should I wait a while before even bothering to look for one in stores?
I managed to get a white 64 GB WiFi model at the Ottawa Apple store yesterday at around 0930, just after they opened. Only waited about 20 minutes and they seemed to have lots of stock.

In 4 years, I have read zero accounts of an actual bricking. I have however, read countless overly dramatic stories of botched jailbreaks requiring a simple restore. People over/mis use the word brick almost as much as "fail".

Excellent news! I think we can infer from this that Apple has nothing more then a skeleton crew working on 4.x at this point. I am sure all resources are hard at work on 5.x .
Cant blame them, they probably got more important things to focus on than patching jailbreaks.
Hope they become more lenient on JB in general.

I've got one.
I use it primarily for quick videos of my kids.
I love it and think the quality is better than the iphone 4.

Out of curiosity, why did you use a third party charger? I've done it a few times with other devices, but it's always been with quality, branded chargers (like charging my Kindle with my BlackBerry's charger), but I wouldn't dare do that with my iPad unless I knew it was top quality since so many of those third party chargers, like third party batteries, can damage your equipment.
By the way, I think using a third party charger may have voided your warranty anyway. At least on some devices I'm pretty sure it does.
No way third party chargers void warranty, if it did, we wouldn't have a single Apple device left with any warranty. :eek:
Anyway, OP is in luck, as 4.3.1 JB just came out. So he can just restore to that and see if that fixes his problem.

Windows is compiled for x86. Macs are currently PPC. The instruction sets are totally incompatible. This is the reason for Virtual PC.
Assuming you want to run a much less capable OS then you will have to wait for:
1) MS to compile Windows for PPC not x86 (this did used to happen)
2) Wait for Intel based Macs and hope for driver support/boot loader support (maybe January).

Dodgy methods? Couldnt you have just signed up for a US iTunes account and downloaded it, then switched back to your normal one? That's how most non-US people got it easly.

You need a credit card to register for an iTunes account and for some reason I think (read: think, not know) Apple has limited it to one credit card per account so I can't really do that.
Regional limiting is stupid, it's like DRM.

The IMG tags are only for images that already appear on the web. What you place between the image tags is the URL to the image location. (Be sure to use TIMG instead of IMG for large images). For images that exist on your computer, simply click the paperclip icon when composing a post and attach the image.

It's the images from the computer that I'm having problems with. It used to work, and I got no "clunk" when it did work. BTW, on the forums, all the img options are enabled. Other people still do it.

I just picked up a D-Link DI-524 802.11g router at Best Buy two days ago. Perhaps not the most feature-rich router out there, but there were 40 dollars in rebates, bringing the price to $20. At that price I figured I could make a foray into wireless networking in my house. So far it seems to be working well. It was very simple to set up, and it seems to provide reasonably good coverage. No problems yet!
